Dearborn, three weeks of Hell to gain entrance into Ford Heaven

I know silly title, but..... Ok had to drive up on March 3rd to Dearborn, Michigan. Only a 6.5 hour trip, and I left early from home so as to take my time and avoid any chance of getting ticketed. But, the travel plans as all plans went to shit once I got close to Ohio. Florrennce, Kentucky was getting some heavy snow and drivers were crawling along. the snow and slow drivers weren't the issue, it was the sad fact that bo salt trucks had gone by yet. So under every overpass there as a sheet of ice, and just beyond the ice, there was a wreck. Ok, made it safe and sound to the hotel. Beds are very comfy, but the room overall are basic. Classes are being taught by retired UAW electricians, so they get us easily and know what we are going through. That really helps out when there is a common ground, not just same company, same union, and skilled trade, so yeah they get us. But first two days started with the refreshers of the last two weeks, so was hard to stay awake. Today we did low voltage wiring, simple stuff, but same type of wiring principals used in residential wiring. Definately a better day! Still have 4 more years of this stuff, the "OJT" at work and 6 hours of schooling one night a week. Always wanted to do this, but never figured I'd get to start this late in my Ford carreer. My mind is frazzled, my hands and eyes don't work as well as they did when I took the entry test 10 years ago. But I will give it my best, just to get the chance to sit on my ass waiting for a radio call saying I need to get up and fix something, LOL! Getting paid to sit, rest and read my paper, hmm, will have to take my laptop in.

Found It!!!!!!!!

Well, I finally found the ever ellusive Friday! Have been looking for it for eight and a half years, without any idea of where to look. Now it has come, and gone. I am happy as hell to get it over with, "MY LAST FRIDAY AS A PRODUCTION EMPLOYEE!" But it was kind of sad as well. A coworker on the team right next to mine is also going into the maintenence program next Monday. Yet her team had a big meal and cake for her, while mine couldn't even be bothered to give a card. No congratulations, not even a you will not be missed card. I know I shouldn't be upset, they owe me nothing, but...... No worries I guess, next Monday I embark on a new stage of my Ford employment. Better pay, but mainly I no longer have to kill myself physically to earn my pay. I get to start using my brain again on my new job! WooHoo! Wishing you all the best! Oh, and Kay, keep your head up, you are a strong woman, tough as things may be at the moment, i know you will pull through! My well wishes and prayers to you and your family. =)
